Carron Phoenix Alba Kitchen Tap Valve
FAQ :
- My own valve is the one threaded 3547R but you don’t offer me this option : While we stock the 3547R valve, in our experience and based on discussions with the manufacturer of this tap, we supply the 4276R, which was the earlier version of the valve that was used in this Tap. We are the only stockists of this 4276R valve. If you see a ‘compatible’ valve on a different website offering the ‘4276R’, it is not a genuine valve. And it will not have replicated the internal workings of the genuine 4276R. The genuine 4276R valve is stamped ‘San Marco’ .
- My hot and cold valve look different : This tap is a little unusual to the layman in so far as the hot valve comes with a bush 3409R and the cold side doesn’t. So if you removed the hot valve and the bush 3409R was stuck to it, the hot valve would look ‘fatter / wider’ than the cold one. There are pictures of the bush below to explain in further detail to you.
- How do I remove the Handle : There is a narrow cover on the end of the handle that you have to pop off to access the screw behind the valve. The indicator on the Alba tap can be taken off using your finger nail. Here is blog post Kitchen Tap – How to remove the Valve Cover .
- How do I remove the Valve ? Then use a flat headed screwdriver to remove the brass screw. This will release the handle from the tap. Then use an industrial spanner to remove the valve. Put in the new valve and tighten with adjustable spanner. Replace handle. Screw back in brass screw and the indicator will pop back on. See link to full guide below.

Useful Tip Re Bush (Hot side only, no Bush on Cold side)
It can be a common enough problem that when you remove your Hot Valve it looks different than the valve in the picture. It is most likely because the brass bush is still attached. There is only a Bush on the Hot valve. There is NO bush on the Cold side. The Bush code is 3409R
For tips on how to separate a Valve from a Brass Bush, see here.
If the Valve is stuck inside the Brass Bush then you will have to separate them OR buy a Brass Bush as well (see You May Also Like section below)
